Abstract:

The solubility regions for the aqueous and nonaqueous microemulsions with perfumes, stabilized by sodium dodecyl sulphate (SDS) or cetyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) and pentanol, were determined. The perfumes used are limonene (LN) and estragole (EG) . The result showed the presence of two dinstinct and one elongated isotropic solution region for the aqueous and nonaqueous system, respectively. The solubility regions where inverse micelles were form with CTAB were found tobe larger than the SDS counterpart. The normal micelles region with SDS was found tobe largest in the LN system. In general the results showed that for each surfacent system the difference in the solubility regions between the microemulsion with LN and EG was modest.
