Abstract:

The stability constants of Co(III), Ni(ll), Cu(ll) and Zn(ll) with lsatin-3 (p-methoxy) Phenyl Imine (l-3-(p-OMe)Ph-i. have been determined at various temperatures potentiometrically in 0.1 M ionic strength and 10% aqueous-dioxane medium. The thermodynamic parameters, enthalpy i ΔS), entropy Δ values have been calculated from temperature coefficient data. The metal ligand formation constants ot Cu(ll) complexes have been determined by varying proportions of Dioxane-water. Ethanol-water ana DMF-water at 30°C and 0.1M ionic strength. The results are discussed with reference to the dielectric constant of water in presence of the organic solvent, change in structuredness. hydrogen bonding tn water, eofvent basicity and proton solvation by the organic solvent. Log K, and Log B values howed an increase with increasing percentages of organic solvent and maximum values are obtained in Dioxane-water medium.
