Abstract:

Three new complexes in the series [Cu2(L)4 (OCH3)2](X)2 where L is 2-amino-5-methlpyridine and X-CIO4-, NO3 or CF3SO3- have been prepared. The complexes were characterized by the aim of elemental analysis, infraered spectra, electronic spectra, EPR spectra and magnatic properties. Tha compounds exhibits at room temperature magnetic moment between 1.24-1.49 BM per copper atom.Tha UV-Vis spectrum of all complexes shows three absorption bands in tha visible and UV regions, which can ba attributed to d-d, L → M and π → π∗ ligands transition. The lR section focused on Cu2O2 ring vibration, Which are found between 575-520 cm-1. The magnetic properties of complexes 1, has been examined in the range of 5-270 K.A singlettriplet energy gap (2J) of -155 cm-1 with g=2.18 were obtained . All complexes in solid state are EPR silent and show no ΔS= 2 transition. Tha frozen solution EPR spectra indicates that the complexes dissociate when dissolve in DMF of DMSO. Tha unbridged copper(II) complexes has a g⊥value of about 2.07 and gII, of about 2 .32 with AN⊥ of about 160 G and AN⊥=15 G.Tha presence of five peaks for nitrogen superhyperfine structure for the complexes, in fact agrees with Cu(L)2 species.
