Abstract

Controlling the Corrosion of Mild Steel by Changing the Environment

Wequar Ahmed and Masood Alam

Abstract:

For studying the corrosion of mild steel in 1 N sulphuric acid, its weight loss and galvanostatic studies were carried out . Then the environment was altered by adding Glutamine and Glysine in sulphuric acid. For this the solution of said amino acids of varying concentration were prepared in 1 N sulphuric acid of both weight loss and Galvanostatic studies were performed. It was found that 10-1M Glutamine solution is much more efficient and works as a good corrosion inhibitor
