Abstract

The Effect of Light Naphtha on the Blended Gasolines and Oxygenates

Abstract:

This manuscript is aimed to evaluate the effects of the use of light naphtha on the blended gasolines and oxygenated gasolines, and studying the enhancing of the octane and the tailpipe emissions. Making a different blends of gasoline’s with two refinery streams which consists of reformate and isomerate in a different ratios was the first step, after that n-butanol was added as oxygenate by decreasing the isomerate ratio in the blends. The last step summarized in using light naphtha in the gasoline blends to make three refinery streams and in the same technique of the first step, n-butanol was added. Air pollution is the most serious environmental problem in Egypt with exhaust emissions from spark-ignition engines accounting for a major part of problem. The use of n-butanol as oxygenate added to the gasoline blends will reduces these emissions.
