Abstract:

Ultrasonic velocity and density mesurements of 1(2'-Hydroxy-5'-bromophenyl)-3-(2'-chlorophenyl)-1, 3-Propanedione (HB2CP) in dioxane have been carried out in the percentage range 100 - 60 % and in the concentration range 1 x 10-2 to 4 x 10-2 mol.dm-3 at 305 ± 0.1 K. The experimental data have been used to calculate various acoustical parameters such as, apparent molal volume (fV), apparent molal compressibility (fK(S)), intermolecular free length (Lf), specific acoustic impedance (ZS) and relative association (RA). These parameters have been interpreted in terms of solute-solvent and solute-solute interactions.
