Abstract:

Surface sediments collected from 44 stations during pre-monsoon season and post-monsoon season were analyzed for the organic carbon concentration using the total organic carbon analyzer. The sediment particle sizes were also measured at all stations with the laser diffraction method (PSA). In this study, it is interesting to note that the concentration of organic carbon are relatively high in the pre monsoon season and become much lower after the post monsoon season. In the pre monsoon season, organic carbon has average concentration of 1.58% and during post monsoon season, the average concentrations of organic carbon were significant decreased to 1.23%. The mean grain sizes were also showing the same trend with lower phi (
