Abstract:

The densities and ultrasonic velocities in binary mixture of ethanol (EtOH) + water (H2O) have been measured over the whole composition range at 10 mol% interval at 250C, using single crystal variable path interferometer working at 1Mz. Various acoustical parameters such as acoustical impedance (Z), adiabatic compressibility (b), intermolecular free length (Lf), relative association (R.A.), molar volume (Vm) and molar sound velocity (Rm) have been calculated. Along with these excess functions i.e. excess adiabatic compressibility (bE), excess intermolecular free length (LfE), excess molar volume (VE), excess ultrasonic velocity (UE) and excess acoustical impedance (ZE) for the solvent mixtures with and without drug have been calculated. The obtained results have been used to explain the nature and strength of inter/intramolecular interaction prevalent in the liquids.
