Assessment of Micronutrients and Organic Compounds in Sesamum Indicum Linn.

Abstract:

Sesamum indicum Linn. is a perennial herb belongs to the family Pedaliaceae. It occurs in the warmer region of Africa, Asia and Australia. In India its six species are recorded in which S. indicum is widely cultivated. Seeds of the plant yield an expression on edible oil and the bulk of Sesamum seeds are unsed for the extraction of oil. The lighter coloured varieties yielding more oil than the dark coloured ones2.
