Abstract

Adsorption of Anionic Dyes on Bicationic Sunflower Stalks

Reda M. El-Shishtawy

Abstract:

The ability of Bicationic sunflower stalks as anion exchangers for removing anionic dyes; namely Acid Green 16, Direct Blue 67, and Direct Violet 31 was investigated at 25°C. The removability of these materials, determined by spectrophotometric measurement of the residual anionic dyes in the treated solution, was dependent on the dye type and its charge. The equilibrium adsorption data were well fitted to the Langmuir and Freundlich models for anionic dyes and their parameters determined. Bicationic sunflower stalks proved to be extensively capable of anionic dye removal.
