Abstract:

Since long time, man is damaging the global environ in various ways. Even water- a precious natural resource, is not exception from this damage. Sadly, this wonderful gift of nature is now under threat, from none other than man himself in its totality. The product of human activities such as sewage, industrialization, deforestation, construction, agricultural practices may sum up pollution caused over long peiod. 10-12% Indian population have access of clean and safe drinking water while rest of the population have no access of safe drinking water as the admissible level of physico-chemical parameters of the water at various places are changing with high pace. The analytical study of water indicates the physico-chemical parameters of water and hydrobiological algal pollutants are at alarming level beyond permissible values of WHO and Indian Standard Specification for drinking water. These human activities influence the profuse growth of algal pollutant which, in turn, are responsible to hamper the water quality and thus make the water hygienically unsafe for drinking purpose. By taking all these things into consideration we are interested to investigate some physico-chemical parameters such as temperature, turbidity, pH, chlorides, calcium, carbonate, bicarbonate, total hardness by given chemical method along with hydrobiological algal pollutants viz. Oscillatoria, Phormidium, Cosmarium, Phacus from water sources of Revasa river. The place of Revasa is located in Amravati district of Maharashtra state in India.
