ABSTRACT:

Dichlorovos, O-O, Dimetyl, 2-2, dichlorovinyl phosphate, (DDVP) was found to induce powerful melanin disprsion in the isolated scale melanophores of teleost fish, Channa punctatus by inhibiting the acetylcholinestrase activity. This effect was completely blocked by atropine and hyoscine. It is concluded that endogenously accumulated acetylcholine stimulated the cholinergic receptors of muscarinic type which caused the melanophore dispersion.
