ABSTRACT:

The ionization constants "Kb" for aqueous methyl, ethyl, and triethyl amines were determined at different temperatures using conductometric method. It is found the ionization process decreases in the order methyl > ethyl > triethyl amines* Kb was found to increase with temperature for the three systems with temperature coefficient ( -d(PKb)/dT ), of+0.032 unit/°C. This, of course, indicates that the ionization process in the three systems are endothermic one. Other thermodynamic parameters such as ΔH0, ΔS° and ΔG° are calculated. The results are discussed in view of their structure.
