ABSTRACT:

Potentiometric equilibrium measurements have been made for the formation of ternary complexes of type [MAL) where A = bipyridyl (bipy), o-phenanthroline(Phen). •taurine o-phenylene diamine (OPDA) ,M = Cu(II), Ni(II), Co(II), Zn(II) Cd (II) and L = P-{(1H-benzimidazol-2-ylmethyI) imino ] methyl ] phenol ( BMIMP), 2- {[1H-benzimidazol-2-ylmethyl) imino] methyl]-4-chlorophenol(CI-BMIMP), 2-{((1H benzimidizol-2 ylmethyl) imino]- methyl]-4-methoxyphenol (MeO-BMIMP) at 300C in 60% (v/v) methanol-water mixture at I=O,1M (NaCIO4). The Ligand [L] Coordinates as a secondary ligand in presence of ligand [A] in stepwise manner. To estsblish the coordinating sites of these schiff bases, Cu (II)-BMIMP complex was isolated and studied.
