ABSTRACT:

Ultrasonic velocities in solutions of trichloroacetic acid (TCAA) in nitrobenzene -ethanol mixtures are measured at 25,30,35 and 40°C by using a single-crystal interferometer at a frequency of 3.5 MHz. The ultrasonic velocity (u), density (p) and concentration (C) arc used to calculate adiabatic compressibility (Bad), apparent (∅k) intermolecular free length ( Lf ), specific acoustic impedance (Z), relative association (RA) and solvation number ( Sn ). Bachem and Guker's laws have been found to be valid.
