ABSTRACT:The two characteristics, monochromaticity and high intensity, of laser radiation have been utilised in investigating the metabolism of higher plants which has been achieved by carrying out an experiment on some glycolytic enzymes of germinating green gram with nitrogen laser rays at 337 nm. Green gram glycolytic enzymes show maximum activity at 30-36 h of germination. Laser irradiation enhances the enzyme activity and protein content upto 5 min. but prolonged irradiation decreases the enzyme activity and protein content.
KEYWORDS:Monochromaticity; Nitrogen
