ABSTRACT:

A direct method for determination of iron (III) in presence of chromium (III), aluminum (III) and manganese (III) was achieved by ultra violet (A), first derivative (dA/dγ) and second derivative (d2A/d2γ) spectrophotometry technique. This has been accomplished through measuring the corresponding EDTA complex. The method was proved using synthetic mixture of Fe-EDTA complex in presence of Cr-EDTA complex, AI-EDTA complex and Mn-EDTA complex. The utility of the method for determination of iron (III) in different pharmaceutical dosage forms was also presented.
