Thiacetazone Salicylaldimine (ThSa) as Potential Antibacterial and Antitubercular Agents

ABSTRACT:

Alcoholic solution of thiacetazone (p-acetamide benzaldehyde thiosemicarbazooe) and salicyaldehyde were refluxed together on regulated water bath for 6 hours. On cooling the crystals of ThSA were separated. ThSA along with its metal complexes show antibacterial activity when tested against S. aureus and E coli by nutrient agar pour plate method and has been tested against Mycoderma tuberculosis.
