ABSTRACT:

Doubly bis-bidentate chelating formazan, 1,1-dipheny1-3,3'-di (o-hydroxyphenyl)-5,5-diphenyl formazan forms tetranuclear metal complexes of the type [M4LCI6 (H2O)10) and (M'4LCl6(H2O)2] where M=Co(ll),Ni(ll), Cu(ll); M=Zn(ll) Cd(ll), Hg(ll). The complexes of first category possess octahedral or distorted geometry whereas the complexes of the lather category are suggested to be four-coordinated with a tetrahedral geometry around the metal ions. The metal complexes have been characterised on the basis of analytical, conductance, magnetic susceptibility, I.R.and electronic spectral data.
