ABSTRACT:

A series of new Pyrazolones and acid hydrazides have been synthesised. Reaction of ethyl acetoacetate or ethyl benzoy lacetate with diazotised 2/3/4-nitroaniline gave substituted (2/3/4-nitro phenylazo) acetic acid, ethylester. Treatment of esters with 2- [(N-substituted)-p-chloro anilido] acetohydrazide gave 1-[(N-substituted-p-chloroanilido)aceto)-3- methyl/phenyl-4(2/3/4-nitropheny lazo)-5-Pyrazolones. The compounds have been screened for their antibacterial activities against S. aureus and E.Coli and anticancer activities
