Synthesis of Some New 4-Aryl-1 (P-Dichloro Phenoxy Phenyl)-3-Chloro-2-Azetidinones and Their Antibacterial, Insecticide and Herbicide Activity

Some new 4-aryl -(p-dichloro phenoxy phenyl)-3-chloro-2-azetidinones were prepared by the reaction of 4-amino2 4'-dichloro diphenyl ether and various aromatic aldehydes to give 4-(imino schiffs base-1 -yl) 2', 4'-dichloro diphenyl ether. When on cyclized with chloro acetyl chloride to give the corresponding 2-azetidinones. The compounds were characterized by elemental analysis and IR spectra. The compounds have been tested for their antibacteria, insecticide and herbicide activity.
