ABSTRACT:

Some new ortho hydroxy oxime complexes of cobalt (II) having the composition CoR2, have been synthesized and characterized on the basis of elemental analysis, magnetic susceptibility, Infrared and electronic spectral studies. The free oximes are diamagnetic while cobalt complexes are paramagnetic with low spin square planar configuration. Bonding to Co(ll) through the phenolic oxygen and the oximic nitrogen atom is revealed by IR spectra.
