ABSTRACT:Divalent metal salts of mono (hydroxypentyl) phthalate were synthesized by the addition of 1,5-pentane diol, phthalic anhydride and divalent metal (Mg2+, Ca2+, Mn2- Zn2+ Cd2+ Hg2+ and Pb2+) acetates. These ionic diols were characterised by elemental analysis, solubility, spectral studies (IR and FT NMR) thermogravimetric analysis (TGA) and antimicrobial activities tested in vitro against Pseudomonas flourescence, E. coli, Streptococcus sp. and Salmonella sp.
KEYWORDS:phthalic anhydride; Salmonella; Streptococcus sp; Pseudomonas flourescence
