ABSTRACT:

Complexes of Cr(lll) with N-4-methyl-7-hydroxy-8-aceto coumarinylidene anthranilic acid (MHACAA), N-4-methyl-7-hydroxy-8-aceto coumarinylidene-o-aminophenol (MHACAP), N-4-methyl phenacylidene anthranilic acid (MPAA) and N-4-methyl phenacylidene-o-aminophenol (MPAP) have been prepared and characterised on the basis of elemental analysis, spectral (infrared and electronic) and magnetic susceptibility data. Solution equilibrium studies of the systems Cr (lll)/Schiff bases have been earned out pH metrically (H=0.25 M NaCIO4 and temp. 30±1°C) as employed by Calvin and Melchior. The protonation constants (pK values) of the Schiff bases have been evaluated.

KEYWORDS:
