Dissipation Study of Bayleton® (Triadimefon) in Wheat by Reversed-Phase HPLC

ABSTRACT:

A simplified and rapid method of study of dissipation of Bayleton in wheat was developed. A representative sample of wheat was extracted with acetone followed by clean-up on mini-silica gel column. The fungicide was eluted with dichloromethane:acetone (95:5 v/v). The sample was analysed on C18ODS, 5μm column at 229 nm using acetonitrile:water (60:40 v/v) as mobile phase. The minimum detection limit was 0.05 mg kg-1 and recovery was found to be 80±1%. Following two application rates @ 500 g a.i. and 1000 g a.i. ha-1, its decay was studied and fitted into first order decay model (C=C0e-λt). At lower application rate, dissipation followed normal decay pattern, however, at higher rate a bi-phasic decay pattern was observed. The half life of bayleton at two application rates was 1.1-1.2 days and it became non-detectable from 12th day onward.
