Nordelporphine Alkaloid from Bark of Phoebe Lanceolata

ABSTRACT:Phoebe lanceolata is an evergreen tree belonging to family Lauraceae and is reputed in Indian system of medicine. Plant material (stem bark) was collected from in and near Kartikswami temple dist. Chamoli, Uttaranchal. Extraction was done with EtOH and fractionate with EtOAc. Nordelporphine was isolated by column chromatography over silica gel (Merck 60-120 mesh) using eluting solvent methanol –chloroform (1:24). The compound was characterized by various chemical and spectroscopic techniques.
