ABSTRACT:

Chalcone dibromides (IVa-d) or flavones (Va-d) were treated with hydroxylamine hydrochloride, aqueous KOH and ethanol to give same isoxazoles (VIa-d) from both methods. Isoxazoles (VIa-d) was reacted with P2S5 in pyridine medium to give thioisoxazoles (VIIa-d). Isoxazoles (VIa-d) were treated with acetic anhydride and a pinch of anhydrous sodium acetate to give 3-(2-acetoxy)-isoxazoles (VIIIa-d). Thioisoxaziles (VIIa-d) was reacted with acetic anhydride and a pinch of anhydrous sodium acetate to give 3-(2-acetoxy)-thioisoxazoles (IX a-d).
