ABSTRACT:

Few amino acid derivatives of indolizine-2-carboxylic acid have been synthesized by converting of Indolizine-2-carboxylic acid to acyl chloride, followed by condensation with various amino acids. The starting material of Indolizine-2-carboxylic acid was prepared by aldol type condensation of ethyl bromopyruvate with รก-picoline. These synthesized compounds, indolizine-2-carbonylamino acid derivatives were screened for anti-tumour activity using Erhlich Ascites Carcinoma (EAC) Cell induced albino mice. The compounds IIIa and IIId showed significant anti-tumour activity, IIIb and IIIc were found to be moderately active and remaining were inactive.
