ABSTRACT:The present study is to conserve the valuable ground water resource from industrial activity by reducing chemical oxygen demand (COD), trace metals such as iron (Fe) and lead (Pb) of sugar mill effluent using low cost adsorbent, activated flyash. The result showed that about 62% of COD can be, effectively reduced. In addition trace metals like Fe and Pb are also removed for about 63% and 58% respectively, which in turn reduces pollution and hence ground water resources may be conserved from further deterioration.
