ABSTRACT:

A series of schiff bases of aminothiazolyl coumarin were synthesized by treating 2'-amino-4'-(3-coumarinyl) thiazole with aldehydes. The former compound was obtained by cyclizing 3-bromoacetyl coumarin with thiourea. The structures of the synthesized compounds have been characterized on the basis of spectral data such as IR, 1H-NMR and Mass Spectral (MS) studies and evaluated for analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity by acetic acid induced abdominal constriction method and carrageenan induced rat hind paw oedema method respectively. Out of the compounds tested, few showed significant analgesic and anti-inflammatory activity.
