ABSTRACT:

The inhibiting effect of three amino acid compounds (alanine, phenyl alanine and histidine) on the dissolution of aluminium in 3M HCl was studied using weight loss and galvanostatic polarization measurements. It was found that, the inhibition efficiency of these compounds depend on their concentration and their chemical structures. The inhibition action of amino acids is discussed in view of the adsorption of these compounds on the electrode surface. The adsorption process on aluminium surface follow Langmuir adsorption isotherm.
