ABSTRACT:

Pyrazolines are reported to exhibit biological activity. In the present investigation four 3-aroyl-flavanones (1a-d) and two 2-furyl-3-aroyl-chromanones (1e-f) were subjected to react with phenylhydrazine-hydrochloride in ethylenediamine medium to form respective 1,3,5-phenyl-4-aroyl-D2-pyrazolines (2a-f). Their structures were confirmed by chemical properties, elemental and spectral analysis. The compounds synthesized were screened for antibacterial activtiy against some Gram +ve and Gram -ve oranisms by using Kirby-Baur's disc diffusion method. It has been observed that compounds (2a-f) showed moderate antibacterial activity against the test organisms at a concentration of 50μg compound per
